Bobby Beaumont
Nottinghamshire and East Midlands
Bobby has spent the last five years working as a playworker and performer with The Flying Seagull Project, a play and circus-based charity working with displaced children in refugee camps. He has extensive experience creating and facilitating play spaces, running play-based interventions, and performing in refugee camps across Europe and the Middle East.
Bobby is also in the final months of his PhD research on the same subject. As a researcher he explores the right to play for displaced children and why safe spaces to play are essential for all children. He is particularly committed to the transformational potential of play, both for children and for the spaces and places in which they inhabit.
Before his work and research with refugee communities, he worked as a mentor and teaching assistant in schools and Pupil Referral Units. Here he gained valuable experience working with children with physical disabilities, complex behavioural and emotional needs, and SEN.
