The Lake District
Anna Dutson
Anna has worked in Cumbrian schools for 25 years as a parent support advisor, Healthy Schools Co-ordinator and class teacher. With a passion for developing art and creativity, she has been working as the Art lead in a rural primary school for a number of years and has recently helped staff and pupils to achieve their Artsmark Award. In her role as a parent support advisor, Anna is keen to involve adults in practical ways to engage and motivate children to learn and play and to move away from a dependence on screens. Living in such a rural and rich landscape she is passionate about young people developing a connection with nature that is on their doorsteps. The role of OPAL mentor fits perfectly with this ethos and drive to change the culture of play in our schools.
Outside of work Anna lives on a small farm in the Lake District with her family where they keep rare breeds animals, run a sawmill and grow plenty of flowers and vegetables.
