Jo Clanfield is a former primary teacher and senior leader who is passionate about giving every child the chance to play, learn and thrive outdoors. She believes that outdoor spaces are vital resources that can support children’s wellbeing, creativity and confidence, and has dedicated her career to helping schools unlock their potential.
As founder of Teach Outdoors, Jo has supported schools to develop sustainable whole-school approaches to outdoor learning, creating opportunities that extend across the curriculum. She is also a qualified dyslexia specialist teacher, as well as a Forest School and Beach School practitioner, with a particular interest in supporting children through active, multi-sensory learning.
Jo loves working with school communities to transform their culture, helping staff see the possibilities in the spaces they already have. As an OPAL mentor, she brings her teaching and leadership experience together with her enthusiasm for inclusive, child-led play, encouraging schools to create joyful, sustainable outdoor environments for every child, every day.
