OPAL Leicestershire
Rachel Clark
Rachel brings over 30 years of experience as a primary school teacher, with a strong focus on Early Years education.
As Early Years Lead and Assistant Head at her current school, she has built a wealth of knowledge in fostering young learners.
Passionate about the importance of play, Rachel embraced the role of Curricular Lead for Play when her school joined the OPAL programme, working to create enriching play opportunities for all students, not just those in the Early Years.
Beyond the classroom, Rachel is an outdoor enthusiast who enjoys staying active through a variety of pursuits. She loves walking, especially with her dog, as it gives her the perfect opportunity to explore nature and unwind. She enjoys staying active through sports and fitness and is also an enthusiastic spectator of sporting events.
Currently teaching in the Early Years Unit two days a week, she believes that combining her teaching role with her work as an OPAL mentor is the perfect blend. Her firsthand experience developing a play culture in schools enables her to provide valuable support to other schools on their OPAL journey.
